Do you ever wake up to discover your desire to write or publish has waned?
Are you caught up in the day-to-day doldrums of this sometimes-solitary lifestyle of being an author?
Are you stuck in a rut and repeating bad habits because you’ve lost connection with your passion and desire?
Here’s a cool coaching exercise I do with some of my clients to help them reconnect with their desire.
I think daydreaming is an important aspect of aspiring towards our hopes and goals.
Sometimes I like to imagine what life would be like as a phenomenally popular author like JK Rowling…I stumbled upon this older interview from British television, and I thought I’d share it with you just to get you thinking about what it would be like to be known world-wide for your books and your characters.
After you watch the video, think about how it would feel to sit in her chair. What would you be thinking? What would you want to convey?
Then write a few paragraphs in a journal about what you learned from this exercise.
Later, when you are frustrated or discouraged, or if you have writer’s block, take out that page and review it.
Reconnect with the desire. Think about how it will feel when you reach your dream.
